Our Company

Situational Awareness Systems is a member of the ESU Business Accelerator and the Pocono Mountain Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ).  The company was originally founded in 2005 to pursue computer science related R&D projects with the Department of Defense.  However, due to our rapid growth and partnerships with local healthcare providers, we have successfully branched out into other areas, such as biosurveillance.

Because of our distinctive situation, our company has a number of unique characteristics which heighten our competitive advantage; these include:

• Situational Awareness Systems is truly a virtual company, with a wealth of infrastructure, but a minimum of office space and staff.  Key functions, like accounting and payroll, are outsourced.  These factors, plus our location in a low cost of living area, minimize our overhead and allow us to offer highly competitive labor rates.  Our low labor rates, in turn, guarantee that our customers get the most out of their limited software development budgets.
• We hire only the most talented software engineers.  All our full time personnal have graduate degrees in Computer Science.
• Situational Awarness Systems works very closely with its customers to get their input throughout the software development process.  We embrace the spiral development model for software; as such make every effort to give our customers hands-on experience with our prototypes.  This is typically done by giving them remote access to our servers or by participating with them in table-top or on-site exercises.  We listen attentively to our customers, collect their feedback, and implement all reasonable changes to make sure the end product exceeds their expectations.
