SITUATIONAL AWARENESS SYSTEMS AWARDED CONTRACT TO APPLY TACTICAL INFORMATION PRIORITIZATION SYSTEM (TIPS) TECHNOLOGY TO THE JOINT BATTLESPACE INFOSPHERE (JBI) PROGRAMSituational Awareness Systems has received a $90K contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate in Rome, NY to apply TIPS to the JBI program. In particular, this effort will focus on evaluating the scalability of TIPS and using it as a brokering mechanism for JBI information objects. The goal of the program is to accelerate the delivery of critical information to warfighters without them explicitly having to request it. In addition, by prioritizing information, it supports the optimal utilization of bandwidth constrained communications links. TIPS performs data mining of JC3IEDM Command and Control databases in order to automatically prioritize tactical information for transmission to military units. This is the latest in a string of investments made by AFRL in the TIPS technology.
