SITUATIONAL AWARENESS SYSTEMS AWARDED TRANSLATIONAL GRANT TO STUDY COMMERCIALIZATION OF DEFENSE RELATED TECHNOLOGIES

Situational Awareness Systems has received a $25K grant from Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeaster Pennsylvania to explore strategies for commercializing our Bio-Miner system. The Bio-Miner system utilizes electronic healthcare transactions (both HL7 messages and ICD9 codes) in order to conduct surveillance for select diseases on a patient by patient basis. As part of this study, we plan to survey hospitals in the PA, NJ, NY, and DE to determine their requirements for such a system. The Bio-Miner system is a composite of biosurveillance technologies developed on multiple DOD contracts.
